Fluke 1664FC Multifunction Installation Tester Description
The Fluke 1664FC Multifunction Installation Tester is the most sophisticated model in Fluke’s 1660 Series of Multifunction Installation Testers. It can be used to test the safety of electrical installations in domestic, commercial and industrial environments, as well as verify the correct installation of fixed wiring. The extensive testing capabilities of the Fluke 1664FC Multifunction Installation Tester means that it can be used to check electrical systems and fixed wiring in accordance with a variety of local regulations. Please see the following video for a quick introduction to the Fluke 1664FC.
Its Auto Test function can be used to run up to seven installation tests in one sequence, again ensuring compliance with local installation regulations. This feature improves both the efficiency and reliability of testing as it reduces the number of manual connections required, thereby limiting the opportunity for mistakes. Similarly, the Fluke 1664FC Multifunction Installation Tester is capable of ring testing which also reduces the potential for errors and improves testing efficiency. The user can select the required input sockets using soft keys and does not have to exchange test leads.
The Fluke 1664FC Multifunction Installation Tester can perform the following tests:
- Insulation resistance
- Loop resistance
- Line resistance
- Earth resistance
- Continuity
- 10mA continuity for measuring motor windings
- RCD variable current
- Ramp test: measure RCD switching time and tripping level
- RCD type A & AC trip times and currents (combined test)
- Type B/B+ (smooth DC sensitive) RCD
- Wiring polarity: detect broken N and PE wires
- True-RMS AC/DC voltage: fast measurements between L-N, L-PE and N-PE using the mains cord (no need to change connections)
- Frequency
- Prospective earth fault current (PEFC/IK)
- Prospective short-circuit current (PSC/IK)
- Phase sequence (with phase sequence indicator)
In addition to the above, the Fluke 1664FC Multifunction Installation Tester also includes a High-Current Loop mode to enable faster measurements than loop tests and a non-trip mode for RCDs. This instrument is capable of measuring PEFC or PSC with loop impedance in parallel; it will display measurements for these parameters simultaneously on the dual display. The highest loop measurement detected can be easily evaluated due to the inclusion of a Z-max memory for loop tests.
To prevent damage to peripheral equipment when running insulation tests, the Fluke 1664FC Multifunction Installation Tester features an Insulation Pre-test that will stop the test and provide a visual indication if it detects an appliance connected to the system-under-investigation. In addition to this, the Fluke 1664FC also includes an Earth Volt Touchpad for detecting raised earth voltages (>50V), alerting the user to potentially dangerous situations.
To improve measurement accuracy the Fluke 1664FC Multifunction Installation Tester includes a zero-adaptor designed to compensate for test leads and the mains cord. Results are indicated on the large, backlit display with clear symbols and a wide viewing angle. Other practical features include a rotary dial for selecting the required measurement function which removes the need for complex multi-level menus and allows the user to see, at a glance, which parameter has been selected.
It is possible to save measurements to the Fluke 1664FC Multifunction Installation Tester’s three-layer memory. As this instrument is Fluke Connect-enabled it is also possible to send measurements to a smartphone or tablet with the Fluke Connect App installed or save them to the Fluke Cloud. As a result, the user can view results remotely and/or send readings to team members in real-time thereby facilitating collaborative decisions.
Data can be downloaded from the Fluke 1664FC Multifunction Installation Tester to Fluke’s Data Management Software (NOT included) for further analysis. This software can also be used to create certificates using the acquired data.
The Fluke 1664FC Multifunction Installation Tester is a compact, lightweight tester with a padded neck-strap. It is easy-to-use, ergonomic and includes an extensive selection of tests and measurement functions.
